My name is Sheryse Noelle DuBose. The reason I started this blog is to promote my novel, “The Promise of Palmettos”. I thought that the story of Native Sea Islanders, who struggle to hold onto their land needed to be told. I grew up in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where I learned to treasure land and family from my grandmother and my father. I was blessed to come from a rich Gullah heritage, which is threatened by rapid development. Currently, I live in Knoxville, Tennessee with my husband and children. I am a former urban planner and teacher of history, drawing on those experiences to write my novel, which will be available in two weeks exclusively on Amazon Kindle.
